Liam is an all-round super nice guy who goes to my church and lives down the road. When I heard he was contemplating shaving his beard of epic proportions, and possibly cutting off his long locks – I snagged him for a before and after portrait session.
Things weren’t as drastic as he had planned or as I expected. There’s still facial hair, and his mane only received a bit of a trim. However, it was still fun times and great to get a record of that beard of majesty!
This shoot doubled as a bit of a training session with my newest second photographer/assistant, Nate (also known as my husband). Nate did a fantastic job and I’m excited to be working with him more as the photography season gets busier!

A cool idea well executed. The pictures have a modern vibe to them.
Wow! LOVE the transformation, it looks soooo good! I hope he’s happy with it
Great pics! Love the b4 and after.
WOW…… his new look is pretty hot! The new shirt helps too! Great idea, D… I love the lighting in these, too, btw.
That is one mighty beard, hope he likes the new him. Great shots my the way.
I find portraits of men so hard to do, you’ve done a superb job here. Well done!
Great work, I like the concept and the light is lovely, the cut takes years off him!
Wow! I’ve done a lot of wardrobe changes before, but never a facial hair change. Impressive! Great light. Well done.
wow – new look is great & I love how the outfit in the second one has changed dramatically aswell
(not sure of that was planned)
Thanks for the love, everyone! Always makes me happy-giddy to get such positive feedback! I think Liam misses his beard, but I agree that he looks great without it. The shirt change was intentional. I let him pick his first outfit and then told him what to wear the second session to give added contrast. The original plan was to shoot the second session in an urban location but it just ended up working out this way. I’m pretty happy with the results!
These are gorgeous! He’s not half bad looking either
Wow, looking good! The first ones have a very mountain man feel to it, but that’s a good thing. :p I like his new look, goes nicely with the piercings.
