I’ve been waiting to post these photos for a while! The session actually took place back at the end of April, but Claudia had these planned as a special surprise anniversary gift for her husband — so I didn’t want to blog them until I was certain the big day had come and gone.

Claudia found me while searching online for portrait photographers in Kamloops, and fell in love with my photography. Well, the moment I met her – I fell in love with her! We sat down over coffee just before the shoot, to break the ice and get to know each other a bit before jumping into the photography part of the evening. I could have sat there all evening, just listening and talking!

Eventually, we looked at the clock and knew we’d have to get going to meet the sunset. We had a blast! Quite possibly the most laughing I’ve ever done during a portrait session.

So now, I present to you a sweet, beautiful, strong Chilean woman named Claudia:

Choosing a favorite from this session is very difficult, but my eyes keep coming back to this one. There is such timeless beauty, strength, and nobility in this profile of hers.  I also love that last glint of the sunset on her hair, and the gentle curve of the horizon.

It all speaks so much to me.

This young woman is a stunning co-worker of mine. Obviously, she is beautiful – but what I love most about Cheri is her personality: gentle, kind. She’s also rather shy and it was fantastic being able to pull her out of her comfort zone and show off her beauty to the world!

Ah, Kitsilano Beach at sunset! Nate and I spent a lovely few days down on the coast in the Vancouver area with friends. While he was off having burgers with an old buddy of his, I managed to squeeze in a short portrait session with this lovely young lady.

Last Monday, Siobhann braved the rain for a portrait session in her sparkling grad dress.  It was well worth getting cold and wet! We had some laughs, and she will have some great shots of her dress as a memory of her graduation.

I’d been trying to think of a way to convince Kendra to let me take her out for a photoshoot, and finally came up with it. When we were at the carnival the other day, discussing plans for Janell’s upcoming Headshots Session, I suggested making use of the time and getting the sisters together for a sister shoot while we were at it. Mother’s and Father’s Day are both coming up, after all! As Janell and Kenj had not had their photos taken together in nearly a decade, it was an easy sell – their parents will be delighted!

And speaking of delighted, I had a blast taking and processing these. We shot at two locations I have been eying for a while now, the weather was just how I like it, and there were no people around to get in the way.

Janell is the Facilities Manager for Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops, and an actor for Project X and the Saucy Fops. She’s terrific onstage and in front of my camera – a long-time favorite model of mine. We hit downtown to update her actor headshots.

The carnival was in town, and instead of going on rides, Brianna and I decided to go shoot some photos of the lights.  After thinking about it for a while, I realized I would rather take photos of people at the carnival. So, phoned up Janell (who is nearly always game for a photoshoot) and she met us up there with some of her wardrobe in tow.

The night was cold. Far, far colder than I anticipated! Windy, nasty, cold. And of course, the outfit I chose out of Janell’s offerings was the coldest for her. Brianna, Kendra, and I swiped the rest of her layers and added them to ours to keep warm.  Janell never lost her poise, however, and looks super retro-funky-glamorous!
